40 Day Challenge Day 40

A whole 40 days! If you've been here since the beginning on the 11th of May - well done!

The journey isn't over though, for most of us it's just beginning. We need to find a way of ensuring we continue to try to bring our faith into the every day.
Most of us wonder how good we are as Christians - we might even worry about not being good enough - but what this blog was designed to do is to encourage us all to realise that the tiny steps we take are incredibly important. Some of those steps were obviously faith-related (such as reading the Bible) others not so much so (weeding, smiling at strangers, giving away chocolate bars!) but all are an equally valid response to our faith as it seeps through into the very core of our being.

Today, your last challenge is this: keep taking those small steps. Don't stop. Go back over these 40 if you would like to - create some new challenges for yourself and post them here to share with others, or drop a note to Revsbrown@aol.com

And print out this verse to keep with you to read whenever your faith gets wobbly.

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. (2Thess 3:16)

And
remember... bloggy coffee in the Cathedral, tomorrow at 10.30.

  1. Ah great way to end your 40 day blog! Thanks for doing this Susan, really made me stop and think, and of course eat the odd choc bar!! Wont make your coffee tomorrow as i will be hopefully selling some of the stuff you made me get rid of yesterday in the Social Club!! Mind you, you could have had your coffee in the social club, only a pound for a good charity!! Will def go back over them all though xx

  2. ..................am sad this has come to an end, BUT will definitely keep this up, my new regime to get up and read your blog will now be to get up and spend that time talking to God, listening to him and thinking of others. I really can't thank you enough for all you have done over the last 40 days. You will never know quite how much................May God Bless YOU.

  3. This sure is unreal. Sorted out the wardrobe yesterday, then tackled the recently re-floored loft ----- and then discovered what the challenge was !! It has been a real eye-opening journey each day ---- I'm definitely going to give the challenges a re-run.

  4. Well done, Susan! I'm afraid I didn't look every day but I think it was a great idea. I had just sent a birthday message to Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma's imprisoned democracy leader (www.64forsuu.org) when I noticed Dornoch Cathedral at the top of the page and found that it was day 40. Your message was very appropriate, so thank you. I'm sorry I won't be able to drink bloggy coffee with you tomorrow as we are going on a trip to Handa. I'll take some in a flask! (along with the prayer!) Lily

  6. Just returned from holiday near Pitlochry, playing golf, walking and going to the theatre. Missed the Blogs but hope to catch up now. As you say, doing small things can help us keep the Faith! Thank you for the last 40 Days. I'd love you to keep it going but it must be a difficult thing to always be thinking of something to challenge us.

Sorry I wont make coffee morning but the mist and rain in Fort William are just too special to leave!!!! Thank you Susan for a wonderful 40 days of real challenges. And like all challenges some were easier to complete than others. Hope to try again some of the ones that were harder to complete. God bless you

I would like to echo the other comments and say how challenging the last 40 days have been. How lucky we are to have Susan as our minister - thinking of us all yet treating us all as individuals and supporting us in our travails - we are indeed blessed.

  11. Yesterday wasn't so bad as we had the bloggers coffee to look forward to, but now this morning ..... no challenge. I'm really pleased today is Sunday, it's communion and I have listening to you in kirk to look forward to, not to mention sharing in Christ's body and blood. I'm sure you planned for it to end in this way. Clever lady, indeed.

  12. Well Rev S, thankyou so so much for a trully sensational service this morning. It was a treat to be there and hear you again. Such a lovely baptismal service and you made the taking of the elements at communion such a privilege and pleasure. The people of Dornoch parish are so fortuneate to have such a marvellous pastor as yourself. God bless you and them.
